It was very hard for me to read this article. Brought back bad memories, and made me think again how lucky I am to still have you. I really was frighten on that bike trail, but hope to try it again. Keep pushing for bike safety and I would do the same.

Thanks for sharing this story. I heard all about this and have seen other posts on it...but it's something that needs to get out there so thanks for doing it. All of us are connected by our love for the bike and all that comes along with it. Good Job.

the incident with the cadillac is infuriating. people are so egocentric that they have no clue as to how dangerous their behavior can become while driving any vehicle, let alone an SUV. to be honest, i can't believe you could maintain your composure in that situation. i don't cycle and i'm hyper aware of how vulnerable cyclists and, even motorcyclists, are. my only comment is that many of them seem to lose track of that fact. automobile drivers are often totally unaware of how dangerous cars can be. i had a near miss of a pedestrian the other day which scared the bejesus out of me. this also points out that cyclists, pedestrians, etc. have to super vigilant about their own safely. i know i am when i'm walking.

regarding the death of two people killed by a vehicle while cycling. somehow i'm not surprised this incident took place in texas, the home state of so much ignorant american arrogance. but this could easily happen in LA where i live. here we have thousands of self involved drivers in gigantic vehicles who should probably not even be on the same roadways with cyclists or anyone else for that matter.

I agree Pearson. I miss you guys and that trip was a real eye-opener for me. If I ever do come back to the states I think I may have to move to Oregon or Idaho. Just far more courteous people, on and off the roads. Far too many cyclists being killed by ignorant people that don't know how to handle their own vehicles. Love you man (and Jules).

Bummer about the odometer, man. I'm down for another trip to Idaho Falls sometime if you wanna get one from the same shop. Well, if the same staff is there at least (nudge, wink). Watched the clip for the P.A.T. and just about peed thinking of all the people staring at you two. I don't even know how I drove in a straight line when that's what I saw in my mirrors. Miss you guys.

This is a great article, photos and video. So glad you got some more coverage. People need constant reminders, so don't stop!! Maybe you can gather people like yourself who were injured severely or just injured and relatives of those who did not survive and create local chapters of a group who will yearly host those silent remembrance rides/walks to promote your messages. Once the film is done and out there, you might find yourself getting letters from people who would want to join with you to work to stop the culture of drivers who don't try or try hard enough to be sure that they give bikers room on the road. With the internet there is another vehicle to reach lots of people...but then you need to REALLY reach them so that they follow-through....
Take Care.

Thank you so much Pearson for sharing your thoughts from the road! I can practically hear your voice as I read it. It's fascinating and much more descriptive than you give yourself credit for. Though I totally understand that it still is not descriptive enough for what you saw and experienced first hand.

Keep it coming!
